Fr Prior meets up with Br Placid in Rome and Br Ambrose visits Zimbabwe

Fr Prior writes:

Br Placid from our Monastery of Christ the Word in Zimbabwe and Fr Columba from Ampleforth are attending the Monastic Formators’ Program in Italy. The course is based in Rome for the first six weeks and then moves to Assisi for the final six weeks. The directors of the course are Fr Mark from Ampleforth and Fr Brendan from Belmont Abbey. A series of speakers from all over the world lead short courses of a week, or even less, on variety of different subjects that are relevant to the monastic life and to human development. Those taking the course come from all over the English-speaking world. Many have never visited Italy before so the group also goes out to see the sights, in Rome and elsewhere, especially the places associated with St Benedict.

Fr Prior took the opportunity of spending three days in Rome just after Easter in order to catch up with Br Placid. He is in great form and enjoying the course immensely.

In April, Br Ambrose visited Christ the Word for the first time, spending a week there for his pre-ordination retreat (given by Fr Robert, the Prior of the monastery).

Br Ambrose took a number of photographs during his stay. A selection of them have been uploaded to a photo gallery - click here to see them.
