Bishop Drainey ordains Ampleforth monk
Fr Philip Rozario, a monk who joined the community at Ampleforth ten years ago, was ordained priest on Sunday 27 June by the Bishop of Middlesbrough, the Rt Rev Terence Drainey.
The Mass in the Abbey Church at Ampleforth was attended by family and friends of Fr Philip, staff and students from both Ampleforth College and St Martin's Ampleforth, as well as parishoners from Bamber Bridge where Fr Philip has spent some time on parish work.
Fr Philip joined the community at Ampleforth in August 2000 and made his Solemn Profession four years later. He was ordained deacon by Bishop Ambrose Griffiths OSB on 10 August 2007.
There are 80 monks in the Ampleforth Community, 48 resident at Ampleforth and others working on parishes, at the Monastery of Christ the Word in Zimbabwe, and at St Benet's Hall in Oxford.
